Santiago > Madrid > Barcelona > Bracciano > Viterbo > Bomarzo > Trastevere

Right now, I’m sitting in my favoute cafe (Caffe Corso), in my home away from home (Bracciano), drinking one of my favourite drinks (Aperol Spritz).

I’ve done a whole lot of sleeping and resting after The Camino. I have again come down with a cold, but my spirits are high because the sun is out and it’s so beautifully warm. Although, I’m having difficulty sipping my Aperol Spritz slowly, it’s so delicious.

I have done two out-of-town trips – to Viterbo / Bomarzo and Trastevere. 

The reason for going to Bomarzo was to visit ‘Parco dei Mostri’, in English, this means ‘Monster Park’. It is a 16th Century property covered in stone sculptures in a medieval town.

I made sure to find as many Harry Potter-esque creatures as I could:

I loved visiting Trastevere. I’ve been to the train station a heck of a lot of times, but never really explored the city. It was wonderful.

First stop was ‘i suppli’ which sells fast food.Not like regular fast food, but Italian fast food – pizza and suppli. Suppli are a smaller version of aranchini – rice balls with a piece of mozzarella in the middle and deep fried. Yep, its as delicious as it sounds.

I also ate some pastries. It wasn’t the shop window that drew me in, it was the smell. I can’t actually describe it, but I obviously needed to eat something from there, so I had a hazelnut cream filled pastry, that was flaky like filo.

I leave for Bologna in 3 days. I’m sad to leave Bracciano because I do feel like it’s a type of home to me, but I’m looking forward to eating more delicious food.
